CE hours are available for psychologists, marriage & family therapists, social workers, nurses, and other mental health professionals. Our courses meet requirements in most states.
Center full day courses offer the following credits:
Psychology, MFT, LCSW, LPCC, Ed Psych, NBCC 6 CE hours : 6 CE hours
Nursing : 7 hours
The Home Study Course offers the following credits:
LMFT, LCSW, NBCC, Nursing : 6 CE hours
The center is not approved by the APA to offer homestudy programs for psychologists. This applies only to homestudy courses.
This course can be started at any time.
To complete the course, attendees must be present for the entire time, sign in and the beginning and out at the end, and fill out a written evaluation of the course.
Transcripts of attendance will be distributed at the end of each course to those who have enrolled for credit and fulfilled the requirements listed above. Participants are encouraged to retain the transcripts for four years. Replacement transcripts can be made if one is lost. The replacement transcript fee is $10.
The center guarantees such copies will be available for at least three years after the date of completion. Even if we cease offering courses, the website and email will be maintained for this period so you can obtain copies.
Those not needing verification of attendance, such as teachers, writers, clergy, and artists - are welcome as non-credit attendees. Spouses, friends, students, and others not needing verification of attendance can also choose the lower non-credit tuition.
Early-bird $140 (if payment is received three weeks prior to the seminar).
Regular tuition: $155.
Some partial work-study scholarships are available for full-day courses.
The Center currently offers one home-study course, The Wisdom of Mythic Stories. The course may be taken for CE credit or non-credit.
Home Study courses for CE credit: $95.
Home Study courses, non-credit: $45.
Full refund is given if the Center cancels a course. A 25% handling charge is imposed on cancellations received up to 24 hours before course. No refunds after that time.

The Center for Story and Symbol is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education hours for psychologists. The Center maintains responsibility for these programs and their contents. CE hours are accepted by the California MCEP program.

Continuing Education courses are customarily approved by immediate supervisors. It is usually sufficient to attend on a non-credit (auditing) basis and present a receipt for the course.
